Final Reflection
This collection represents something that I believe very strongly in, that is that differences should be overlooked and human lives should be made the priority in medicine. Even though there are a variety of text forms, each one addressing a unique topic, I feel that the message each one of them gives the reader is the same. This project has a very clear message due to the fact that I chose a theme that I was interested in, and had a strong opinion about. The strongest piece in this collection is the non-fiction piece; the interview. It was a coincidence in that her family put their beliefs aside to focus on her health, which was exactly what I wanted to teach my readers. This piece was very interesting to write due to the fact that I learned a lot about not only an interesting medical procedure, but also the life of my best friend. The weakest piece is the visual piece; the drawing. I struggle with coming up with unique ideas, especially when it comes to visual representations such as drawings, painting and even posters. This piece was the most time consuming due to my lack of creativity, therefore it was the least enjoyable to create. If I was provided with more time to complete this collection, I would change the informational research piece. Instead of creating a top ten list, I would have created a newspaper article, which was my original plan. The piece that was the most enjoyable to write was the fiction piece; the poem. Once I decided on the topic of blood transfusions the ideas all came to me very easily, and I enjoyed playing around with the words to make it more descriptive. Overall, this collection was surprisingly enjoyable to create, and presents an important message that I hope the readers will appreciate.
Many medical procedures create ethical controversy, but those differences should be overlooked as human lives must be the primary focus.
